ABOUT US

District Health Information System (DHIS) is focused on collection processing, analyzing of data and providing back informative feedback to the primary, secondary and tertiary level health care facilities. DHIS provides a baseline data for district planning implementation and monitoring on major indicators of disease pattern, preventive services and physical resources. The revised system, unlike the previous system, is gathering data on daily basis, which means the data is visible by next day.

Mision

Our mission is to improve the delivery, coordination, and quality of health care across Punjab through the state-wide use of health information technology and clinical data exchange.

Vision

Our vision is a healthier state population and a greatly improved health care system in which care givers and patients have electronic access to more complete health records and are empowered to make better health decisions with this information.

Value

We value the quality and quick availability of actionable data for quick decision making at managerial level.

Dr. Muhammad Ilyas Gondal

Director General Health Services

It is a matter of great pleasure for me to write this message. The importance of data planning and implementation is immense. DHIS is a decision support system that will help managers at all levels to make evidence based decisions. It will help in planning & development, strategy management, Budgeting and forecasting about future needs. The MIS team is praise-worthy to implement the system in the whole province and bring reporting regularity to more than 99%.

Ahtisham ul Haq

Director MIS

The raw data in a prescribed format from public health facilities is regularly received at the provincial level through the MIS district cells and directly from online health facilities. This is then analyzed and scrutinized in detail by the MIS provincial cell after transferred online by Punjab Health Centers / Districts. This would help to identify some of today’s most pressing health issues and how to resolve them. We hope this will be helpful for decision-making.

LOT QUALITY ASSURANCE SAMPLING (LQAS)

Lot quality assurance sampling (LQAS) assesses the quality of a product and can be used to see how health indicators are performing. LQAS is considered to be a relatively rapid and inexpensive approach to data collection in lieu of traditional surveys. It allows for small sample sizes and more frequent sampling than standard probability surveys. In the LQAS application, a pre-defined area is sampled. If that sample comes up with an indicator deemed as performing acceptably, that indicator as a whole is deemed as acceptable. If not, then the indicator is not performing acceptably.

Health Specialist - UNICEF

Data is one of the most powerful tools to inform, engage, and create opportunities for quality services. Data helps to make connections that lead to insights and improvements in planning, research & execution of service delivery. To provide citizens timely and effective health care services an updated & efficient health information system is essential that can employ the raw data into a meaningful information for taking appropriate and timely decisions. Currently DHIS2 is the system that is being used by many countries across the globe for this purpose. Government of the Punjab deserve congratulations for implementing DHIS2 for the first time in Pakistan.

Dr Tabinda Sarosh

Country Director - Pathfinder Int.

It is heartening to see the emphasis Punjab government has laid on the use of evidence for decision making. Following the 18th amendment, Punjab adopted the National Health Management and Information System (HMIS) and a well-organized District Health Information System (DHIS) was put in place with continuous attempts at reefing and updating in response to the growing needs for comprehensive data to feed into the program designs. data. Though family planning (FP) related indicators were a part of the DHIS, indicators on Post-Partum Family Planning (PPFP) and Post-Abortion Family Planning (PAFP) have now been added in partnership with Pathfinder international, under the Naya Qadam project, and data is now disaggregated by age and method. Post pregnancy Family Planning (PpFP) remains a key investment to fulfill national commitments as well as FP2030 commitments and the SDGs and it was crucial to track progress in this area through efficient management and use of data. The strengthening of DHIS in Punjab has been a demonstration of the high level strategic priorities of the government of Punjab. We thank and congratulate the government of Punjab for their partnership and dedication to strengthening the DHIS and promoting evidence-based decision making. We hope that the government will continue to utilize these additional features of the DHIS for future planning and programming.

Dr Muhammad Tariq

Country Director - USAID GHSC-PSM - Chemonics

We are privileged to be the lead technology partner of the Department of Health, Punjab on digital health transformation for strengthening health service delivery. Pakistan-USAID health technology and supply chain cooperation quickly assisted the designing, development and deployment of DHIS2 in pilot districts of Punjab. This is high time for stakeholders to support scaling up of the DHIS2 across all districts after meeting the needs of technology infrastructure and equipment for a real time information acquisition and use up to health facility level. InshaAllah and Together, we will get there!!!

Dr. Jamshaid Ahmed

WHO Head of Office - Punjab

DHIS-2 is world’s largest health information management system platform. It helps in providing right data to right people at right time to help evidence-based decision making in healthcare service delivery. DHIS-2 is the solution to have a well-integrated, efficient and responsive health information system.
